Week 6 - Under 16 Girls Game Report

On the 5th of December the Northside wizard girls played SW metro. The foul count was extremely high with our girls left with only three players by the end. However it was quite a tight game, SW metro just managing to defeat us in the last quarter by 16 points the final score resulting in 60-76. Ruby See top scoring with 24 points. Hopefully we’ll have better luck in the new year!

Week 6 - Under 16 Boys Game Report

The U16 boys were asked for “a quick kill” by the coaching staff, and definitely delivered starting the game with 12 unanswered points before the shocked Gold Coast Waves scored their first basket four minutes into the game. The onslaught continued with the home team being up 30 – 7 at quarter time.

The Wizards high rate of scoring continued throughout the game, however lapses throughout the last three quarters defensively, poor boxing out and some bad decisions offensively allowed the Gold Coast to score more than they should’ve.

Having said that, another solid performance overall from the team, with everyone working hard to achieve a good result. Jack and Zeb MacKenzie led the scoring with 37 and 19 points respectively. Again Luke Pittle was the best performer in the opinion of the coaches notching up another triple double with 14 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. Mention must be made also of strong games from Jackson Gray (12 pts on 100% shooting, 13 reb and 9 blocks!!) and Dan Clanfield who did a great job defensively with good ball pressure, great denial defence and he chipped in with 8 points of his own.

The team heads to the Christmas break 6 wins in 6 games after their 110 – 59 victory, but are well aware that they still have quite a way to go to be playing to their potential.

Week 6 - Under 12 Girls Game Report

The under 12 girls followed on from last week coming up winners by 40 points against Gold Coast.

This big win helped us with our % on the ladder which may come into play later on in the season.

This win was great for the girls confidence and all were able to take the court again this week.

We are still slapping at the ball which again put us into foul trouble. We were lucky to have a good lead and that GC were unable to make their free throws count. All players still need to work hard on defence.

It was good to see the majority of our lay-ups going in this week. Keep practicing girls.

We have had 3 wins and 3 losses so far and l know the girls are hungry to get some more wins under their belt to step up into the top 4.

The carnival round in January will be a tough 4 games but l have every confidence the girls will come out ready to play.

Thank you to all the parents for their assistance and support so far this season.

To the girls well done, keep up the good work. Keep practicing over the Christmas break and work on your fitness.

Have a great Christmas and a safe New Year.

There is no player of the week for this round. The whole team deserve it this week.

GO NORTHSIDE!!
