Week 5 - Under 16 Boys Game Report

Week 5 saw yet another top of the table clash with the two remaining undefeated teams facing off against each other, the competition favourite Brisbane Capitals visiting the Northside Wizards.

The first quarter was a tight affair with the home team leading by one bucket, but the second quarter had Brisbane going to “the deepest bench in the competition” due to their up and in style of defence racking up the fouls against the smart Wizards outfit. With their leading scorer in serious foul trouble the Capitals found themselves down 7 points going into the main break.

In the third quarter Northside took the game by the throat and extended their lead to 18, with some key baskets by several players including a highlight reel reverse layup from Nathan “Machine” Burrow and a dagger to end the quarter by Jack MacKenzie.

The home team were able to keep their opponents at bay with a determined Luke Pittle leading by example, Ethan Fleming had a great game at the point and Aidan Ptasznik and Jackson Gray were tough inside.

The Wizards “capped” the game winning 85 – 66 with a great display of teamwork, tenacity and desire.
