Week 2 - Under 18 (2) Boys Game Report

The first quarter of the game against Maroochydore saw a strong start by both teams, with each team playing to their particular strengths. Our boys played a good inside game while Maroochy ran the lanes and scored fast break buckets.

In the second and third quarters, the points began to add up as the size of our team and the defensive intensity they displayed began to take an effect on the game. Patience and composure on offence allowed for easy baskets inside the paint. The fourt quarter was much the same and the dominant lead established in the previous quarters was added to.

Overall, it was an exceptional team effort, with everybody contributing a lot in their assigned roles. Special mention to Josh Duke and Mark Banno on the boards at both ends and Lachlan Christ for excellent work in the post on offence.

Player of the Match is Leelo, who scored 20 points as a result of a fantastic defensive effort. Johan also had a great defensive game, matching up with the biggest players in the comp and adding another 12 points to the total. Great job boys, one of the toughest games next week against Logan..Stayed Tuned!

Week 2 - Under 20 Women Game Report

Redlands proved to be very athletic and fast squad, who's quick transitions off our misses allowed them to take a big lead in the first quarter. Our girls started to get some good results when we worked our full court press well, and succeed in in keeping the lead to around 20 points throughout the game.

The 4th quarter proved to be a telling one with Redlands running away to a 33 point victory. Notable performances go to Amber who struggled through a chest virus, but still produced a strong game. As well as Cynthia who proved she can play well at this age level, and brought great defensive intensity to the floor.

Week 2 - Under 14 Girls (2) Game Report

Despite starting the game with 7 players and finishing with 6 due to foul trouble mid way through the last quarter the girls fought hard in a close match to go down only by 4 in the end to Ipswich 2. The final result being 26-24. Excellent job girls, we'll get them next time!

Player of the week: Casey Franolich

Week 2 - Under 16 Boys Game Report

A sluggish start saw the scores level at 11 points after the first five minutes, the Wizards U16 boys stepped up their game to take a double digit lead at the first quarter break. The boys showed throughout the game a great ability to run the floor with some great fast breaks and converted several turnovers into transition scores.

Maroochydore really struggled with the guys defensive pressure, turning the ball over against the full court defence and also having to force up several shots in an attempt to beat the shot clock. The players and coaching staff realise that there is still quite a bit of room for improvement.

It is extremely difficult to single any one player out as there were several outstanding players in the 123 – 44 win. Evidence of the “team” game played by Northside is that there were 6 players that scored in double figures.
Next week the team will take on Logan Thunder, who have quite a few players that went to the recent Under 14 National Championships.

Week 2 - Under 12 Boys Game Report

The boys had a good a good win against an under manned Toowoomba who had 5 of their 11 players unable to make the game. Watching the boys setup and successfully execute a pass, cut and replace move a number of times throughout the game got their coaches quite excited as we have been working on this at training and to see game execution reinforces our confidence in knowing that the team is learning and improving each week.

It is important that we continue to seek improvement in our game as our competition is also improving as the season progresses.

The dynamic duo of Lachlan and Dominic combined well to give us many successful moves to the basket. They were well supported by the rest of the team with some excellent assist passing coming from a number of players.

Final result was Northside Wizards 67 to Toowoomba 24.

Week 2 - Under 20 Mens Game Report

The boys made a great start stunning Logan in the first minutes of the first quarter to grab an early lead of 8 points before Logan scored the boys continued to lead the way with some great shooting by Jordin Teo,Luke Stewart as always was in everything and causing headaches for the Logan defence and attack.

Unfortunately Luke was in foul trouble on three fouls in the first half and got a fourth in the third quarter and sat out for a good part of the rest of the quarter and the last quarter came in part way through.Jordin shot 25 points in the first half but was quiet in the second half and finished the game on around 30pts Nate O'Shea worked hard along with Luke Jarryd Smales Flynn Clark Julio Palaez Geoff Walsh Rob Coates Dave Wilson Zac Sweetman to contribute with points assists and defence.

In the end of the last quarter the boys defence fell away and Logan came away with the win by 11 points and I think warey of our next encounter with them where the boys will be no doubt bigger and better in confidence and hungry to turn the tables!
Heads up boys!!

Week 2 - Under 14 Girls (1) Game Report

The group faced their first major test of the season against Maroochydore on the weekend. Maroochydore were the State Classics winners two years ago so it was always going to be tough. It was a bit disappointing to see us come out so intimidated in the first quarter, and we quickly found ourselves down 17-3, and it wasn't pretty. A few stern words, a bit of soul searching, and some adherence to our game plan saw us dig deep and peg the lead back in the second quarter. Special mention to G2 who hussled and finished a few lay-ups off in an awesome second quarter, at half time we had a 1 point lead. A significant turn around.

We battled on in the second half with every one of the 9 players contributing, and this is most important. Reginald went down with an injury with two minutes to go, but all was not lost. We cranked up the "d", had two really great timeouts, stuck to our plan and got the win.

Lesson to be learned - YOU CAN BEAT ANYONE, ANYTIME - WE ALL HAVE ARMS AND LEGS AND A BRAIN - never give up. Player of the Week: Definitely Gabby Edwards this week!

Week 2 - Under 12 Girls Game Report

The under 12 girls determination to get back to playing their best showed on the weekend defeating SW Metro 60-28.

It was great to see all girls getting court time during this game.

Tough defence from Rachel Elphick and Ashley Bennett helped the team to victory by pressuring the SW Metro ball handlers all game.

Girls are now focusing on their game against Logan which will prove to be another hard fought game.

Week 2 - Under 16 Girls Game Report

We played Ipswich Force two on Saturday in our 2nd representative game. It was a hard fought battle at the start but by the end of the 1st quarter we had a clear lead and went on to win the game 64 to 55.

Although there were a few lapses in defence and at times ordinary passing we kept trying hard to the very end and thwarted an Ipswich comeback. The whole team dug deep and we were determined not to give up.

Generally our team work and shooting improved this week and we deserved this win. We have a bye next weekend but will strive even harder to put another win on the board when we play the weekend after.

Congratulations to the following on a great effort:
Top points scorer: Phoebe Hinds
Most steals: Phoebe Hinds/Ruby See (6)
Most tips: Kirsten
Most offensive rebounds: Phoebe Hinds
Most defensive rebounds: Phoebe Hinds
